The Gun is Civilisation
Every Canadian should read this. It's something we've lost and I'm not talking wanton gun violence, or misuse. I am refering to exactly the merits this gentleman points out: A gun and being armed is a leveler an equaliser so to say:
he gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.
This is so true, and partly why the government don't ever really want their citizenry armed. Now that the majority of folks have NO means of defending themselves and through the usual scare tactics and social manipulations, ignorant people call for more and more 'protections' from our government agencies - all the while giving up our own freedoms and rights.
If you can qualify to get your gun lisence I advise you do so soon, because the way things are going it's going to be next to impossible to have any kind of arms in Canada soon at all - legally.

The whole gun control lobby sits on utter nonsense. Study after study shows that armed communities have less crime.
But I don't believe a well armed citizenry can stop this Empire. Carrol Quigley points out that this would be impossible after the 1930's because of the increased efficiency of modern military weapons.
A disarmed population will destroy itself IMO. Criminals within can run freely in this system in which the police are under no contractual obligation to protect. In no way are the police obligated to protect citizens, they do, but to maintain the illusion only. Due to this it can be argued that carrying weapons is a natural right.
